What speech languages does JAWS support?
The languages that are spoken by JAWS depends on the synthesizer currently in use. If you are using the default Eloquence synthesizer that is installed with JAWS, the following languages are available:
  • American English
  • British English
  • Castilian Spanish
  • Latin American Spanish
  • French
  • French Canadian
  • German
  • Italian
  • Brazilian Portuguese
  • Finnish

You can also use Nuance® Vocalizer™ Expressive voices with JAWS for more natural-sounding, highly-responsive speech. Vocalizer voices are available in a wide variety of languages, even more than Eloquence. Visit the Vocalizer Expressive Voices page on the Freedom Scientific Web site to see all available languages, listen to samples, and download voices for use with JAWS.
